[Call for Applications] 2022 Korean Art Workshop for Graduate Students/Junior-level Curators

The Korea Foundation (KF) is pleased to invite graduate students majoring in Korean/East Asian art or relevant studies and junior curators of Korean/East Asian art to participate in the “2022 Korean Art Workshop“ which will be held from November 3-6, 2022 in Hanover and Cambridge, the U.S. This year, the KF especially planned the workshop in conjunction with “2022 Korean Art Week” in order to facilitate the exchange of experiences between senior and junior-level of professionals of Korean art. The workshop will provide participants with opportunities to attend the Korean art symposium and to network with the experts in the field of Korean/East Asian art at overseas museums and academia. Accordingly, this special occasion will be geared toward helping participants develop an advanced proficiency in Korean art.

Program Overview (Tentative)

1. Title: 2022 Korean Art Workshop for Graduate Students and Junior-level Curators
2. Dates: November 3 – 6, 2022
3. Host organizations:The Korea Foundation, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Dartmouth College
4. Supporting Institution: Korea Institute at Harvard University
5. Attendees: 12 graduate students/junior curators
6. Program format: Full-day symposium, field trip and mentoring session
7. Language: English
8. Benefits
   - Accommodations and meals (3 nights from November 3 to 6, 2022)

   * Participants will be responsible for their own airfare to/from Boston and transportation to/from Airport
  - Certificate of Participation

Program Eligibility

Graduate students who fulfill the following criteria:
  - Graduate students who are currently undertaking coursework at a university on a subject related to Korean/East Asian art
  - Junior level curators or research fellow with less than 3 years of experiences inKorean/East Asian art (or relevant field)
  - Ability to communicate in English

1. Symposium: Korean Contemporary Art
  - Korean Contemporary Art and Critical Practice
  - Korean Art and Contemporariness
  - Screening of Media Arts and Artist Talk

2. 2022 Korean Art Workshop for Graduate Students and Junior Level Curators
  - Mentoring and Networking Session

3. Field Trip
  - Special Exhibition of Korean art at Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College and Korea Institute at Harvard University
  - The Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Peabody Essex Museum

Application Schedule

2. Notification of results: September 2, 2022
