The UC Berkeley East Asian Languages and Cultures Department appointed Dr. Jiwon Shin in Korean Literature from Harvard as Assistant Professor of Korean Literature as of July 1, 2002. Dr. Shin will initially complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University and then offer courses related to Korean literature and culture in the 2003-04 academic year at Berkeley. This position was established through matching-fund efforts of the University and the Foundation.
