Inauguration of the D. S. Song-Korea Foundation Chair at Georgetown

The inaugural ceremony of the D. S. Song-Korea Foundation Chair in Asian Studies of the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service will be held on April 10 at the Riggs Library of Georgetown University. The Chair was established through donations from the Korea Foundation and Mr. Yunho Song, a businessman in America. Professor Victor D. Cha has assumed the D. S. Song-Korea Foundation Chair in Asian Studies. He majored in philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University and acquired Ph.D. in political science at Columbia University in 1994. He has served as an assistant professor in the Department of Government and Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service since 1995, and is an independent consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense. He has also served as a guest analyst for various media including CNN, ABC Nightline, CBS Morning Show, Fox News, MSNBC, BBC, National Public Radio, New York Times, Washington Post and Time. His scholarly publications include Alignment Despite Antagonism: The United States-Korea-Japan Security Triangle, which won the 2002 Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Foundation Main Book Prize for best books on the East Asia/Pacific Basin, and Globalization, Strategic Culture and Korea's Modernization.
