The Foundation has recently published “Kimchi and IT” (Ilchokak Publishing Company), a comprehensive introduction of the vibrant nation of Korea and its people, which was written in English by Dr. Kim Choong-soon, anthropologist and president of Korea Digital University. “Kimchi and IT” presents an overview of Korea’s history, modernization, family relations, traditional rural life, and contemporary socio-political issues, such as education, religious belief, social characteristics, economic development, and environmental matters. As for the book’s “Kimchi and IT” title, “Kimchi” is Korea’s most representative food that is internationally known and a basic element of Korean cultural traditions, while “IT” reflects Korea’s world-leading standing in Information Technology and Internet applications. This is a must-read publication for foreigners with an interest in Korea as well as Koreans who would like to better introduce Korea to non-Koreans through English references.
