[Invitation] Prof. Bernd Engler, Rector of the Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen

Prof. Bernd Engler, Rector of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen will visit Korea from June 1 to June 7, 2009 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

The university is located in the city of Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Established in 1477, it is one of Germany's oldest universities, internationally noted in medicine, natural sciences and the humanities. It is also the first university in Germany where Korean Studies courses were regularly organized in 1979. Currently, around 22,000 students are enrolled in 17 faculties offering 70 majors.

During his stay, Prof. Engler will meet with Presidents of Korea University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University, Ewha Womans University, and Handong Global University to discuss ways to promote understanding and academic cooperation between Korea and Germany. He will also deliver a speech on the topic of “Reforms and Prospects of German Higher Education” at the 14th Korea Foundation Forum. Also, he will visit the National Museum of Korea, the Gyeongbokgung Palace and cultural and historic sites in Pohang and Gyeongju.
