  • Date Jul 01, 2009
www.tbsefm.seoul.kr Under the motto "Into the New Tradition" the Korea Foundation Concert for Foreigners 2009 presented a unique mix of traditional Korean music with modern elements. Yoon Keum-jin, director of the Korea Foundation Cultural Center explained the concept of the concert series. INSERT QUOTE (3_ 00:14-00:25 & 03:25-03:35) This year's concert featured two fusion music bands that make Korean music with a modern twist. The gayegeum quartet Yeoul played Western style classical music such as Schubert's "Trout", popular songs such as "Fly Me to the Moon" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and pieces by Korean composers on the traditional Korean instrument gayageum. Yeoul's elegant performance was followed by the stunning show of the percussion band "wHOOL". The band d a unique sound by combining Korean percussion instruments with Western instruments such as keyboard and bass guitar. Both bands made the audience rock. INSERT QUOTE (4_00:25 - 00:35) Next year's concert is already in planning. The feedback from the visitors' poll at the end of the concert will determine the theme for next year. For TBS efm News I’m Vera Hohleiter. ■ June 30, 2009
