Mr. Martin Aguirre, Responsible Editor of El Pais newspaper, Uruguay, will visit Korea from July 4 to July 10 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

Having worked for El Pais for about 20 years, Mr. Aguirre has been Responsible Editor since 2005. It is expected that his visit will help promote a more positive image about Korea in the Spanish-speaking Latin America area.

During his stay, Mr. Aguirre will visit newspapers and institutions such as Dong-A Ilbo, The Korea Herald, JoongAng Ilbo and Korea University to discuss the ways to improve their exchanges and cooperation. He will also get a chance to visit Dasan Call Center, the National Museum of Korea, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Cheonggyecheon Museum, POSCO and Gyeongju Historical Sites, and to watch the Nanta performance, for a first-hand opportunity to appreciate Korea’s various aspects.

The El Pais newspaper was established in 1918 and is distributed nationwide in Uruguay, with the largest circulation of all newspapers. El Pais adheres to the democratic tone of an argument, and it was originally the organ of the conservative Party, Partido Nacional. The readers are diverse, ranging from all sorts of people in the general public to the conservative middle class.
