Prof. Melvin Perez, Director of the School of Economics, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, will visit Korea from May 23 to May 29 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.
The Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), the oldest American university, was founded in 1538 and has since expanded to include various schools: Humanities, the Arts, Law, Political Science, Health Sciences and Economics. The status of the school of Economics has the highest prestige in UASD, which has over 160,000 students and six district branch schools.
As a prominent personage in the field of economics, Prof. Perez has received a master's degree in economics from PUCMM and he served as an advisor for the National Wage Committee. His visit is expected to promote international exchange in the field of economics between our two counties.
During his stay, Prof. Perez will meet with counterparts in order to discuss cooperation in the economic and social fields, the Korean Council on Latin America & the Caribbean, the Saemaul Undong Center, the Korea Economic Research Institute (KERI) and the Korea Development Institute (KDI). He will also visit Insa-dong, Namdaemun Market, N Seoul Tower, Samsung d'light, Bongeunsa, Experience Green Growth Hall and the War Memorial of Korea for a first-hand opportunity to appreciate Korea’s past and present.
