{New Publication] "The Climate and Culture of Korea"

  • Date Jul 12, 2010
“The Climate and Culture of Korea” has recently been published, in conjunction with the Publication Support Program of the Korea Foundation. Today, climate-related matters have attracted worldwide attention due to growing concerns over global warming. As such, the Foundation has sought to extend assistance for the publication of environment-related books, such as this publication and “Forests and Korean Culture.”

The book offers a comprehensive look at Korea’s climatic conditions and its distinctive seasons, including a rainy season (jangma) due to the Korean Peninsula’s location at the eastern edge of the Asian continent. It also explains how Korea’s climate contributes to its temperature, precipitation, wind, and fog, along with discussing the ways in which climatic conditions, such as the extreme variation in winter and summer temperatures, influence the everyday life and culture of the Korean people. In addition, the book features an abundance of photos and personal stories about the author’s various experiences.

For additional information, please contact the Foundation’s Media Department (email: publication@kf.or.kr), or PureunGil, the book publisher (email: pur456@kornet.net). The book is available at local bookstores for a price of 30,000 Korean won (ISBN 978-89-6291-131-2).
