KF Global Bridge I: Nowruz in Seoul
The cultural festival “KF Global Bridge I: Nowruz in Seoul” will be held from March 20 to April 27, co-sponsored by the KF, the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat, and the Seoul City Administration. The event will be themed “Welcoming Nowruz in Seoul.”
Nowruz, which literally means “new day” in Persian, is a New Year festival held every year in Western and Central Asia, a region once ruled by the Persian Empire. Seoul will commemorate the “new day” on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Nowruz’s inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Together with the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—the festival will feature performances, exhibitions, and films introducing the cultures of the region, much in the manner of the KF Global Bridge program of 2018.
Anyone interested in the Silk Road’s linking of East and West and the wondrous natural beauty of the Central and Western Asian region is invited to join the festival as we showcase the distinctive cultures of the five countries as well as their similarities with Korea.
