Trust Dance Company Performs in the Netherlands

The Trust Dance Company of Korea staged a joint performance and conducted a workshop, together with Magpie Music Dance Company of the Netherlands.

‘The Hundred Languages of Children’ Exhibit in Korea
January 10-February 16

Organized by the Korean Association for the Reggio Emilia Approach, and with support from the Korea Foundation and the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul, the exhibition featured children’s collaborative works on various themes presented by the municipal school system of Reggio Emillia.

Commemorative ‘Korea Day’ Event in Seattle

“Flower” performed Korean and American folk songs, with traditional Korean musical instruments, to celebrate the “Korea Day” event held in Seattle, Washington.

‘Woyzeck’ Performances at London International Mime Festival

Korea’s Sadari Movement Lab staged its “Woyzeck” performance at London’s Southbank Centre, in conjunction with the London International Mime Festival.

‘Korea, North and South: A Cinematic Perspective’
January 25-27

Organized and hosted by the University of California, San Diego, the symposium introduced aspects of the everyday culture of North and South Korea through their representative feature films. The event enhanced public understanding about the two Koreas through discussion and lectures by distinguished figures of Korean Studies and cinema.

Workshop for Korean Language Educators in Russia

In cooperation with the Russian State University for the Humanities, the Foundation conducted a workshop for Korean language educators in Russia. With a theme of “Korean Language: Perspectives of Research and Methods of Teaching.” The participants presented papers and discussed such topics as Korean language teaching methods, textbooks, and linguistics.

‘Karma’ Staged at Dubai Fringe Festival

The Second Dubai Fringe Festival invited the Patron Company of Korea to present its “Karma” performance, which featured diverse elements of Korean culture.

Invitation Program

Under its Invitation Program, the Foundation hosted the visit to Korea of Dr. Lawrence Lau, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (February 12-18). Dr. Lau visited Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University and toured various cultural and historic attractions.

New Italian Film Festival

Six recently released Italian films were shown at the KF Cultural Center.

Completion Ceremony for Diplomatic Fellows
February 22

The Foundation and Seoul National University's Language Education Institute hosted a ceremony, at the Hoam Faculty House, to recognize the 28 foreign diplomats who successfully completed a year-long study program of the Korean language and culture, which had been underway since March 2007.

Joint Performance of ‘La Traviata’ in Ecuador
February 25, 27, 29

Korea-Ecuador joint performances of the “La Traviata” opera were presented at Teatro Nacional Sucre, Quito, Ecuador, which featured opera performers from the two countries, together with a Korean conductor and Ecuadorian choir and national orchestra.
