‘Heart of Korea’ Exhibition

The exhibition includes some 50 works of painting and sculpture by artist Chun Kwang-young, which feature the use of hanji, traditional Korean paper.

Opening Ceremony for KF Diplomatic Fellows 2009

The Founda t ion hos t ed an opening ceremony for 27 KF Diplomatic Fellows, from 17 countries, who had been selected based on the recommendations of various Korean diplomatic missions to participate in an educational program on Korea’s language and culture.

‘Korean Dreams: Paintings and Screens of the Joseon Dynasty’ in Australia

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is hosting a special exhibition to introduce the outstanding attributes of Korean art to viewers in Australia. The exhibition features traditional Korean folk paintings, screens, and outstanding artworks, of the 17th-19th centuries, from the Lee U-Fan Collection of the Guimet Museum, France.

Da’ak Performance Tour of Europe
March 11-30
The Korean Creative Music Society stages performances of Da’ak, a creative work that combines Korea’s chamber music and unique tea culture, in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria. Comprised of various art genres, including dance, painting, and installation works, Da’ak has received high acclaim from audiences in North America.

‘Ye San Jok’ Performance in Alaska
March 15
The Academy of Korean Music has been invited to participate in the Performing Arts and Culture Concert Series 2009, for a performance of Ye San Jok, a Korean rhythm project that features a blending of Korea’s traditional percussion music, samulnori, with Western-style jazz.

‘Arts of the Korean Renaissance, 1400-1600’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
March 17-June 21
This exhibition, which seeks to introduce the elegance and diversity of the arts of the early Joseon period, of the 15th and 16th centuries, to U.S. audiences, features 40 masterpieces of painting, Buddhist art, ceramics, lacquer ware, metal craft, and sculpture, on loan from the collections of the National Museum of Korea, Samsung Museum of Art Leeum, and other institutions in Korea, Japan, and the United States.
