Korean Cinema Today Films from the Busan International Film Festival

The Korea Foundation, the Busan International Film Festival, and the House of World Cultures (Haus der Kulturen der Welt) in Germany have come together to host 2013 Korea Cinema Today in Berlin. Ten films that have been the talk of the town will be shown at the festival. These were chosen according to the three themes of the festival: “Strong Female Figures,” “Spotlight on Korean History and Politics,” and “Coming of Age: Teenagers in Trouble.” Several Korean directors will be in attendance at the festival: O Muel, the director of the opening film Jiseul; Yoo Ji-tae, another actor-turned-director who is showing off his debut film; CHUNG Ji-young; BYUN Young-joo; SHIN Su-won; KANG Seokpil; and KIM Tae-gon. We believe that Korean Cinema Today, which takes place for the second year in a row, will be a springboard for introducing Korean cinema to Germans.
