Fifty Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking exhibition, which introduces Korean art as part of the Korea Festival in ASEAN, will be taking place in the Philippines. This exhibition, which is jointly organized by the Korea Foundation and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, looks back on the past fifty years of Korean contemporary printmaking, introducing not only works that represent the characteristics of each period of printmaking history but also a variety of pieces by contemporary artists. The exhibition will bring together 97 works of art, including
Li Tai Po by Nam June Paik,
Coal Mining: from the Journal of a Miner by Hwang Jai-hyoung, and
The Story of Forest by Oh Se-young.
In addition to introducing the people of ASEAN to Korean printmaking, the exhibition also seeks to show them the historical developments and trends of contemporary Korean art, the creative spirit of artists who have rediscovered Korean values, and the image of society that is revealed in their work. Korean contemporary printmaking developed by leaps and bounds through international exchange in the 1970s, and it is hoped that this exhibition will be an opportunity to further reinforce the cultural exchange of the past decades.
