2014 Korea Festival in Eurasia

2014 Korea Festival in Eurasia

The Korea Festival program is a multifaceted undertaking that introduces the culture of Korea through the staging of such events as exhibitions, performances, Korean Studies lectures, and a workshop on Korean-language instruction, together with corporate social responsibility initiatives. This year’s “Korea Festival in Eurasia” program is being presented from May through September 2014 in the countries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Following the first program held in Brazil in 2012, the Korea Festival enjoyed another successful showing in 2013 in six of the ASEAN member countries (Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). The feature performances of this year’s Korea Festival—a traditional Korean dance and music performance by the National Gugak Center and a fusion gugak (Korean traditional music) performance by Kang Eun-il’s Haegeum Plus—will be staged on June 6, 2014, in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, respectively. This introduction to the beauty of Korea’s traditional dance and its unique music will be an ideal opportunity to share Korea’s cultural diversity with two countries that are growing closer to Korea through the spread of Hallyu (Korean Wave).
